ANZ backs mining event with K50,000

ANZ Bank has become the lead sponsor of 2017 PNG Mining, Petroleum Conference and Trade Fair to be held in Port Moresby from November 28 to 30.

Chamber of Mines chief Dr Albert Mellam said ANZ had been a long-standing partner to various mining and petroleum projects in the country and was one of the most respected financial institutions in the Pacific.
 
"ANZ has had many years of providing sound economic advice to economies around the world and to have it come on board to support the conference and also provide the conference its chief economist Richard Yetsenga speaks volumes of the bank's commitment to PNG and its resource industry,"  Mellam said.
 
ANZ PNG chief executive Mark Baker said ANZ was fully committed to supporting the resource sector in PNG.
 
"We recognised the importance of this conference to the industry and are happy to support it through this sponsorship and sharing our global insights as well," Baker said.
 
The conference is expected to attract well over 600 delegates from the mining and petroleum sectors. A trade exhibition showcasing almost 40 different companies and institutions will run concurrently. Prime Minister Peter O'Neill will open the event at the Stanley Hotel and will deliver the keynote address.
