Radio New Zealand reported that PNG's state water utility for servicing the capital, Eda Ranu, said it was working overtime to restore full water supply after a leakage in its water main trunk.

The utility said emergency water rationing was under way, with full operation maintained to supply Port Moresby General Hospital and Pacific International Hospital.

The water supply cuts began early on Saturday.
