Contained copper production reached 35,823 tonnes while contained gold output was 115,935 ounces. Silver production increased 4% year-on-year to 281,051oz.
The higher production was due to the spike in mill throughput achieved, which also overcame some dips in the copper and gold grades mined.
Ok Tedi ships out a concentrate of copper, gold and silver and these sales were down 32% year-on-year to 124,406t in the recent quarter.
But at least part of this fall was attributable to cargo shipment which was delayed from late March into April.
Up to five rigs were drilling beneath the Mount Fubian pit to further define resources.
The feasibility study for the mine’s extension plans are expected to get internal technical approval in mid-June.
